Demand And Supply

Demand and supply relationship is a tool widely used by economists to study the market condition and thereafter to formulate their marketing strategy.

However, demand and supply relationship also can be used in many other areas of life.

For instance, if there are 100 single men and 50 single women in a small village, then it is clear that the demand for women is more than the supply in the village. It is then easier for the 50 women to find a husband but the reverse is not true.

If a woman has befriended a man and they are going steady, whether or not the relationship will work out well again depend on the demand and supply, now at micro level. If the man can supply the woman what she demands and wise versa then the relationship will definitely work out well. This supply and demand can be time, money, care, love, sex, comfort, happiness, security, companionship etc., or a combination of these. However, if supply and demand does not match, for example if the woman is a material girl and she demands money and materialistic gains whereas the man is one with good look, caring and loving heart but is not rich then it is highly unlikely for the relationship to work out.

As a result, I would recommend we study our relationship’s demand and supply so that we can provide our spouse with suitable ingredients that he or she truly needs. Communication should be the key to this.

  2. For your hypothetical case, I think the best thing the men can do is to import brides from outside :P

  3. haha, sometimes even if the supply is enough, the demand is expecting for higher quality of supplies elsewhere.. so hardly there can be a balance nowadays.. :p
