The photos above were taken from my sister's residence, a HDB Flat in Singapore. The first one was taken in the daylight whereas the second was taken at night after all the streets and the adjacent flats were lighted up.
The neat and tidy environment around the HDB flats impressed me, and I wonder if only the government of Malaysia could have half the efficiency of Singapore government, the country would prosper in no time, given the available natural resources and land that Singapore is lack of.
The photo at daylight was a random shot with small aperture for increased depth of field, whereas the photo at night was experimented with low shutter speed of approximately one second and the result turned out to be reasonably bright. As the photos were taken with free hand without using a tripod, the image at night is not as sharp due to shaky hand I guess……..
The last photo here was taken at Johor Bahru Danga Bay during the eve of Christmas. The blurry image is even more evident with slow shutter speed and shaky hand. I believe if I slow down the shutter speed further and with the use of a tripod, the photo would have turned out brighter, sharper and better. It is a challenge to do night photography.......
哦?? 甚麼時候你的blog也來雙語出擊了, 呵呵!! 有人和我一樣了~~ :)
ReplyDeleteyes, i agree with you that we are way too far from being efficient, and that is what makes us become slower in becoming a developed country.. i would say not only efficiency, but many other factors..
My sister also lives in Singapore. She used to own an HDB flat unit, but moved to a private condo last year.
ReplyDeleteNo doubt, Singapore's government is very efficient, but that's NOT enough. You know, I am an MBA student. I have learned that there are two important factors which can propel a company to success - efficiency and innovation. Singapore is probably lacking in innovation.
You may be surprised that Malaysia may have an edge on this regard. Consider AirAsia and SIA, the two nation's airlines. SIA is efficient, but AirAsia is innovative. SIA is state-run, but AirAsia is founded by - who else - Tony Fernandes.
Singapore's economy is tightly controlled by the government. In Malaysia, at least the government is not so heavy-handed. I think Malaysian model is better (though still not good enough).
呵呵

ReplyDeleteSK,
ReplyDeleteHaha, you should have noticed that I blog less frequently now hence when I post I'm able to have more time to write in two languages....
Happy new year!
Khengsiong,
Air Asia is innovative in budget customer sector whereas SIA is famous for top notch service. If not for budget constraint, I would definitely go for SIA.
Having said this, I would still prefer to live and retire in Malaysia, haha...
Happy new year!
